HISTORY OF LOTUS GOLI SODA
Goli soda, a popular drink in India, has a unique history rooted in the culture of the Indian subcontinent. Its origins can be traced back to the early 20th century when it was introduced as a refreshing, carbonated drink, often served in a distinctive glass bottle.
The term "Goli” (which means "ball" in Hindi) that is placed inside the bottle. This "goli" is a marble-like ball that is used to seal the bottle. When the bottle is opened, the ball is pushed to the neck of the bottle, and the drink is poured out. The drink is essentially a flavored soda, typically with tangy, sweet, and spicy flavors.
Over time, Goli soda became a nostalgic drink for many, symbolizing the simpler, more traditional flavors of India. Though its popularity has waned with the rise of other beverages, it still remains a cultural icon in certain regions. Some modern-day companies continue to produce Goli soda, often with updated packaging and flavors, to cater to nostalgic tastes and younger generations.
